Frequently Asked Questions

How cold is to cold to apply Arena Fx?

We recommend no colder than -10c (14F) and to incorporate well into your footing otherwise you risk your arena footing freezing.

While you can apply at colder than the -10c (14F) mark you have to drastically slow down the application process applying a bit of the product solution slowly and then thoroughly working into the arena footing fully before continuing.

Because of this we recommend applying at no colder than -10c (14F) or waiting for a chinook or a warming trend in the weather to apply.

I applied Arena Fx and there is still dust, does this mean the product is not working?

Not necessarily, what will happen is the first 1-2mm of footing will dry with a
dust layer on top, before applying more water work the footing with your groomer to “roll” the top later underneath and bring the under layer to the top allowing the moisture held in the lower levels of the footing to be brought to the surface.

Lumps have formed in my footing after the application. Is this normal?

Yes, this is normal, immediately after applying Arena Fx to your footing you will see small lumps and nodules form.

This is due to the product binding to the silts and other small particles in the footing. These small lumps will break down naturally with use and grooming.

How long before I can ride in my arena after applying Arena Fx?

You can ride on the arena immediately after the product is applied. It isn’t recommended to do more forceful maneuvers such as sliding stops and rollbacks on the day of initial application as the footing will be heavy due to the water applied with the product.

Normal maneuvers and training can resume after the product has had an opportunity to cure into the footing. Curing will be readily
observable by the breakdown of the small nodules that form after the application.

I went to apply the Arena Fx and it is thicker than water and not coming out of the nozzles like it would with just water, Is this normal?

Yes, it will change the viscosity of water as it incorporates. It will create almost a web
like pattern on the ground and will come out of the nozzles in a thicker pattern rather than like a fine mist like you would see with straight water.

How long will the product last?

You can expect around 2.5-3 months between applications, of course this is dependent upon how much use the arena see, how much mechanical movement (ie. grooming of the arena) and environmental factors such as heat and wind.  It was proven to reduce watering in trials by
up to 84% in arenas with direct heat.

Does Arena Fx contain salt and will it corrode the metal on my doors, or my equipment?

No, Arena Fx is 100% salt free. It is a synthetic polymer and will not cause corrosion on any metal that the product comes into contact with.

I calculated the amount of water needed for my facilities application and it seems like a lot of water, do I really need that amount of water?

Yes- Arena Fx utilizes water to work into your footing and requires a specific volume of water to hydrate the product to ensure a proper application.

Think of mixing and applying Arena Fx like baking a cake. A cake mix requires a specific volume of each ingredient; To much or to little of any of the ingredients and the cake won’t taste great.

Is the product toxic? Is it safe for my dogs/cats/kids to be around or on?

The product is non-toxic. However, as with any chemical, to avoid the potential for
irritation or complications Anchor G Bar does strongly recommend utilizing basic
personal protection equipment such as a dust mask, gloves and basic eye
protection to ensure a safe experience. Additionally, as with any chemical it
is recommended the product not be ingested, inhaled or inserted into a body.

I don’t need the entire bag for my application/or I am going to split the application over two days, how do I store the bag?

As Arena Fx is designed to attract and hold water it will capture moisture from the atmosphere. Each bag comes with a resealable zipper seal.

Simply re-seal the bag and store in a dry place.
